Redmi Note 14, Pro & Pro Plus review :Specs, Features and Prices. Are they worth it?



 The Redmi Note series has always been people favorite budget to mid range smartphone with almost flagship features. Undoubtedly, there is a time the Redmi note series have just performed great almost like flagship while maintaining the affordability. The Redmi Note 14 Series  has been just launched in India that consist of the Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 Pro and Redmi Note 14 Pro+. Let's see what interesting features comes with the Redmi Note 14 series.

Style and Design



The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 series comes with a smooth and stylish product design that maintains the natural aesthetic while still doing a great job. All the phones have a metallic chassis with a back panel made of glass to create an ultimate look.

The Redmi Note 14 has a glass front which feels nice and plastic back which is quite good but doesn't bring that premium feel. The dimensions of Redmi Note 14 is 162.4 x 75.7 x8 mm and weighs about 190g. The Redmi Note 14 is rated IP64 dust and water resistant. The phone is available in Titan Black, Mystique White, and Phantom purple colors.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro also has glass front but with a silicone polymer back which feels more like leather which gives some sort of premium feeling. The dimensions of the Pro variant is almost similar to base model and weighs the same 190g. The phone comes with the same colors as the base model and there isn't much of a difference in the designs between the base model and Pro variant except the Pro variant comes with IP68 dust and water resistance which is much better.

Moving to the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ which is almost the flagship model for the Note 14 series, comes with a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 glass front and a premium Gorilla Glass 7i glass black which gives it a premium feel, look and design. In terms of dimensions there is not much difference compared to the other variants except it is a little bit heavier 205g which can be attributed to the larger battery. This model is rated IP68 dust and water resistance and comes in Titan Black, Phantom Purple, Spectre Blue, White and Green colors.

Display





All the three models sports a 6.82- inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate. The Redmi Note 14 has a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution while both the Note 14 Pro and Pro +  has 1220 x 2712 pixels resolution. The Redmi Note 14 has HDR10+ display with 2100 nits of peak brightness while both the Note 14 Pro and Pro+ has HDR10+, Dolby Vision  and up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. All the models have an Always On Display (AOD). All the models have a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection to protect it against scratch and minor drop damages. This is ensures the screen always offers service and functionality even under hard knocks of normal use.

Camera and Photography



The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 series has a powerful camera, which is very suitable for a outdoor and indoor photography lover. The Redmi Note 14 feature a rear triple camera which includes 50MP, f/1.5 and OIS, 8MP, f/2.2, 21mm (ultrawide) and a 2MP, f/2.4, macro camera. The Redmi Note 14 pro features a 50MP, f/1.5 and OIS main camera, 8MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 120° ultrawide camera, and a 2MP, f/2.4 macro camera. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ features a 50MP, f/1.6 and OIS main camera, 50MP, f/2.0, 2.5x optical zoom, 60mm telephoto, and 8MP, f/2.2, 15mm, 120° ultrawide camera. In general this rear camera are great and would certainly take brilliant and beautiful shots. The 50MP camera takes lively and clear photos while the macro lens is suitable for close object shots. The ultrawide camera is perfect for taking wide angle shots and the telephoto is perfect for optical zoom shots.

When it comes to videos, the Redmi Note 14 can shoot at 1080p@30fps, the Note 14 pro can shoot at 1080@30/60fps, and the Note 14 Pro+ can shoot 4K@24/30fps and 1080@30/60/120fps videos. The Redmi Note 14 series enables you to record effective videos with good sharpness and definition. Extensive camera options range from gyro-EIS, and OIS which give you a stable camera to capture professional looking videos with minimal shakiness.

All the three models comes with a 20MP selfie camera which is equally good. This helps to capture great selfies with little details coming very nicely detailed and fine. The front camera can shoot videos at 1080p with 30 frames per second which is very practical for video conferences, video chats and selfies with some little movements.


Performance

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 series now been launched hitting higher scores in terms of performance. The Redmi Note 14 come coupled with the MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra chipset that provides a powerful processing job. A core in this chipset consists of 2 performance and 6 efficiency cores with a 2.5 GHz of operating frequency and 2.0 GHz of the processing frequency respectively. There is still the possibility to smoothly multitask and play games using this configuration. The phone has an 8GB or 16GB RAM backed up by either 128GB or 256GB of storage perfect for even large files.

The Redmi Note 14 Pro is powered by Mediatek Dimensity 7300 Ultra that performs a little better than Mediatek Dimensity 7025 Ultra in terms of performance. The Redmi Note 14 pro comes with 8GB or 12GB RAM backed by either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 Storage. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 which is a beast performer. Multitasking and gaming are all handled effortlessly. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has either 8GB, 12GB or 16GB RAM backed up by 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of Storage. All the three models supports WI-FI 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and dual-band GPS.

Battery and Charging

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 series has been unveiled with a larger battery this year which allows you to actively use your phone the entire day without often having to recharge it. The Redmi Note 14 has a 5110 mAh non- removable battery and comes with a 45W wired charger than can charge quickly as 50% in just  half an hour. The Redmi Note 14 Pro has a slightly larger batter that is 5500mAh non removable battery with 45W wired charger. The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ has a massive battery that is 6200mAh with 90 W wired charger that charges the phone at extreme fast speeds. The Redmi Note 14 series has a USB type-C port to ensure that charging is fast without many delays. This series is suitable for those who need a phone that can last them the whole day reliably without recharging. Honestly, I can't not think any downsides of this series in terms of battery and charging except it doesn't support wireless charging. However, I can't complain because it is very affordable compared to it's competitors with similar specs.

Software

The Redmi Note 14 series  uses Android 14 based on HyperOS which gives a simple touch of the phone to the user. HyperOS is quite different from the other similar operating systems in sense of its flows, as the system has no sharp angles but is smooth with rounded corners. The software has many features which implemented artificial intelligence, for example, artificial intelligence in the photography, the battery, and in many compartments making the whole use of the telephone easier. Xiaomi has promised to 3 major android updates on all the three models.

Prices and Availability

The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ currently costs 1,999 yuan, which comes to about $285, for the 8GB/128GB model and 2,399 yuan, about $342, for the 16GB/512GB model. The other two phones are also pretty cheap, with the Pro model only costing 1,499 yuan, about $214, for the low-end stats and 1,199 yuan, around $171, for the Redmi Note 14 base model.

The prices are based on the Chinese market. The phone has been only launched in India and China. We currently don't have global prices but we are keeping an eye for when the phone launches globally.
