Open AI on 31st Thursday October, released a new feature to ChatGPT users called SearchGPT. SearchGPT is ChatGPT's new search engine where users can search the internet using ChatGPT. Everyone was excited to use the new feature and I mean who wouldn't especially it offers summarized results, you do not have to jump from one website to another and more importantly ad-free results. With SearchGPT you can save all the hassle of finding the right website with info you need because almost instantly, ChatGPT will use it's models and provide more relevant answers, summarized answers with link references and it can go deeper finding more answers when you ask it more questions using the entire chat as context to understand you better.
So with there have been questions whether you can replace your browser search engine with searchGPT and the answer is "yes, with a few tricks here and there" and you will not need to have a ChatGPT plus subscription. The best part is this method works with many popular browsers including Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Here is how you can do it for popular web browsers for desktops and PC's

- Navigate to your Chrome settings
- On the left Pane, navigate to Search Engine
- Click manage search engine and site search
- Click add,
- Type "ChatGPT" in the name field without the quotation marks

Now you can search with chatGPT when your type @chatgpt followed by your search terms.
Replace Google With ChatGPT Search in Edge.
Microsoft edge runs just the same as chrome, so you can replace Bing with ChatGPT Search just as in chrome with
ChatGPT search extension . However Microsoft Edge won't let you change Bing with out a fight. So at first the Extension will be blocked and warning pop up will appear. Click the grey Turn On button to ensure ChatGPT search does become the default.
Edge also has a similar feature to chrome that allows you to search engines without replacing the default. So you can follow the same procedure above and add the ChatGPT search engines.
Replace Google With SearchGPT in Safari, Firefox and other browsers.
Safari does allow you to switch the default engine, but only to one of five different providers, not including ChatGPT. Neither does ChatGPT search appear to work with Safari’s Quick Website feature, that allows you to search sites from the address bar, without visiting them first.
Firefox too lets users switch their default search engine, but this requires the search provider to create an extension for the browser. It doesn’t appear that OpenAI has created one for Firefox yet.
